Official Tournament Beer Pong Table Dimensions

March 16th - What are the perfect dimensions for a beer pong table?
Rich
There is a lot of talk among the beer pong community about what constitutes a regulation pong table.
Across this great country, beer pong table dimensions are so varied it is impossible to say what is a regulation beer pong table. To one house in California a regulation beer pong table might be 7 ft long, whereas to a different house in Arizona a standard sized playing field would be 8 ft long. Generally it is agreed that a thinner beerpong table is preferred just for the sake of having it take up less room, but it is also agreed that it should be wide enough to fit a strong line of beer cans on either side because we don't have time to throw those mofos away!
You have to figure out what matters most to you and your friends. How large is the room where you play beer pong in? If you play in a dorm, you are most likely going to opt for a smaller table then if you were playing regularly on a beach because of the lack of space. Of course if you and your friends are competitive players and like to really challenge yourselves, you might want to go with longer beerpong table dimensions.
Obviously the longer your table the harder it is to hit the cups, right? Not always. This is a matter of experience. If a person is used to playing on a 8 ft table and then ends up playing on a 7 ft table, most players will find their game is not as fine tuned as usual. Like anything requiring hand eye coordination, you become accustomed to shooting from a certain distance and deviating from that can hurt your game. A trick many players that are used to longer tables use is to take a step or two back to recreate the ball-to-cup distance that they are used to.
Here at the ProPong House, our original prototype was 7.5ft long by 2ft wide and we have never moved off those measurements. We went with the 7.5ft length for a few reasons. We wanted our unique pong table to be long enough for tournament play but short enough to be played in a dorm room or a small garage. Our goal was to make the perfect beer pong table for everybody, for that reason we threw out the 8 and 7 ft dimensions for the beer pong tables and decided on 7.5ft.
I think it is agreed among the pong community that if there isn't one official beer pong table regulations, t here is an acceptable range, and that range is between 7 and 8 ft long. I've only played on a few tables that were not within that range. Any shorter the game is too easy, any longer it gets a little ridiculous for unskilled players.
So if you ask a regular pong player like myself what the best dimensions for a beer pong table are, I'm going to say the same as the ProPong playing fields, 7.5ft long by 2ft wide.
